Farigliano: an enchanting Piedmontese town with a rich history

Farigliano is a beautiful Piedmontese town with a population of around 1,705 people. This municipality is located in the province of Cuneo and is known for its rich and interesting history.

History of Farigliano

Farigliano has a history dating back to medieval times and there are still some remains of a castle from that era. However, one of the darkest chapters of its history was written during World War II. In July 1944, Nazi-Fascist troops looted and burned the town as retaliation. The town lost two civilians and about 250 houses were damaged or destroyed.

The municipality also had to deal with the damage caused by the Tanaro flood of 1994, with the lower part of the town severely affected and the collapse of the "Ponte Maccagno" which linked Farigliano to the town of Piozzo.
