Fara Olivana con Sola is a small municipality located in the countryside of Bassa Bergamasca, on the left bank of the Serio River and bordering the province of Cremona. The entire flat territory covers approximately 5 square kilometers and is inhabited by 1276 people. It includes two urban centers: Fara Olivana and the hamlet of Sola. History and origin of the name
The origins of Fara Olivana date back to the era of the Lombard Kingdoms, between the 6th and 7th centuries. The village takes its name from a Lombard tribe linked by kinship ties, descended from a certain 'Olivano.' In addition, in the Lombard era, the devotional cult of Saint Fara spread. The first document attesting to the existence of the village dates back to 915, while subsequently the management of the territory was entrusted to the diocese of Cremona and the 'Da Rudiano' family. In the fifteenth century, power passed into the hands of the Republic of Venice, which carried out many interventions for the improvement of social and working conditions, making agriculture the main activity.

Despite the presence of the Regional Park of Serio and the surrounding green spaces, the life of this village is characterized by a strong connection with agricultural activities. One of the main activities, in fact, is the cultivation of Zea mays, which has always represented the main source of livelihood for the inhabitants of the village.
