Napola
Discovering Napola: a small hamlet in Erice
Hello friends, today I want to talk to you about Napola, a small hamlet in Erice, in the province of Trapani. Let's start with a brief introduction of the town, and then delve into its history and culture.
History
Napola has very ancient origins, dating back to the time of the "bagli contadini", or the large rural estates that characterized the Sicilian countryside. In particular, around 1750, several urban agglomerations developed along the Strada Statale 113 Settentrionale Sicula, including Napola.
The hamlet, which today has just over 100 inhabitants, began to form in the early 1800s. Over the years, Napola has experienced moments of expansion and decline, but has always maintained its rural charm.

Events
If you find yourself in Napola at the end of August, you cannot miss the "Volata Napola - Mokarta", a foot race that attracts numerous enthusiasts and even some champions every year. The race takes place along the roads of the hamlet and the nearby town of Mokarta.
Another important event is the "Sagra dell'Uva", held every five years in September. The event, which began in 1973, celebrates the tradition of the grape harvest, with wine and typical product tastings, and the creation of murals depicting the phases of grape processing.
Notes
Napola is a hamlet of the municipality of Erice, one of the most charming locations in western Sicily. Napola's parish is dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
