Welcome to the province of Brescia: a friendly guide to Lombardy's largest province

If you are looking for a place to admire breathtaking landscapes, walk along ancient streets, and taste culinary delights, the province of Brescia is the perfect place for you. Located in Lombardy, this welcoming province has an area of almost 5,000 square kilometers and is composed of 205 municipalities. In these pages, we will guide you through the wonders of this magnificent area of the region, its physical geography, its valleys and its unique landscapes.

Physical geography

The province of Brescia features unique landscapes thanks to the presence of three large lakes: Lake Garda, Lake Iseo and Lake Idro. Each lake has its own beauty, from the warm Mediterranean of Garda, to the historical and cultural charm of Lake Iseo, to the cold and crystalline water of Lake Idro. There are also numerous smaller lakes and mountain valleys, such as Val Camonica, Valtrompia, and Valle Sabbia, as well as hilly landscapes and the plain south of the city, called Bassa Bresciana.

Thanks to the altitude and morphological variety, the province of Brescia hosts all types of European biomes, from the Mediterranean shrubland to the perennial snows of the Adamello with the largest glacier of the Italian Alps.

Valleys

In the province of Brescia, we find 3 main valleys: Val Camonica, Val Trompia and Valle Sabbia. Val Camonica is crossed by the river Oglio and is located in the north-western part of the province, between the Adamello group and Lake Iseo. Val Trompia, a mountain basin of the Mella, is located between the municipalities of Villa Carcina and Collio. Finally, Valle Sabbia, the second largest in terms of size, extends from Serle to Bagolino along the course of the Chiese river.

The Crocedomini Pass is the point of union of the three valleys, and the road artery that connects them is the former State Road 345 of the Tre Valli. The geomorphology and geology present in these valleys are different, thanks to the characteristics of the territory and the rocks present.

Conclusion

The province of Brescia is a wonderful place that will surprise you with its natural beauties, landscapes, and rich culture. The combination of seas, mountains, lakes, and cities will leave you breathless. Come and discover the province of Brescia and build an unforgettable experience!
