History
Origins
It is not easy to pinpoint the origins of the town of Entracque, historical sources take us back in time to the Bronze Age. The thousands of symbolic figures probably carved during the transition from the Neolithic to the Bronze Age on the rocks of the Valmasca, Fontanalba, Val Lauretta and Colle del Sabbione plateaus make us think that these areas were places of frequentation but above all indicate the passage of the first proto-historic populations and of the Ligurians, who lived in these lands for a long time.
Christianity was spread in 250 AD thanks to the Columbanian monasticism, and later the first Benedictines arrived in 600 AD.
During a visit to Entracque, you can also find ruins in different contexts dating back to Roman times; we could mention the Souffiet and Burga bridges, two constructions from the Roman era that are still used today.
