Anthropological Geography

Habited Nuclei

Dubino is located on the main road that leads to the Parish Church of Saints Peter and Andrew, which was built in 1675. The picturesque village of the town still preserves old houses with wooden balconies and bread baking ovens. Mezzomanico, a village located in the middle of woods and vineyards, has a church dedicated to the Madonna of the Belt, which can be reached by climbing a long staircase with the fourteen Stations of the Cross along the sides. Monastero owes its name to the monastery of the Umiliati that was suppressed in 1571 by Pope Pius V. Here we find the church of the Immaculate and isolated in the woods the remains of the church of San Giuliano. The Old Olonio, also known as Pieve, was located on the Regina, near the Pass bridge until the High Middle Ages, but was definitively overwhelmed by the waters of the Adda and abandoned in 1432. San Luigi Guanella founded New Olonio around 1900 to create an institute for disadvantaged young and elderly people. The center has developed and has become a village with the church of San Salvatore built in 1903 at the beginning of the village.

Administration

The administration of Dubino is well organized to meet the needs of the community.
