Dresano

Dresano: the Lombardy municipality with ancient history

Hello everyone! Today I want to talk to you about an Italian municipality, Dresano, located in the Lombardy region. This town has an ancient and ecclesiastical history, which links it to the city of Lodi, although since 1995 it has been part of the Metropolitan City of Milan.

Physical geography: territory and climate

Dresano is located in the Po Valley and is characterized by its constant altitude of 92 meters above sea level and clay soil. The typical vegetation is composed of poplars (white and black), Carpinus betulus, hawthorns, Robinia pseudoacacia, elms, and elderberries. The town is located in a seismic zone 4, but seismic activity is irrelevant. The climate of Dresano is characterized by hot summers and mild and rainy winters, with the possibility of heavy snowfall.

Dresano: history, territory and beauties to discover.

History and symbols of Dresano

The historic center of Dresano has remains of one of its oldest buildings: a house with a large wooden door, part of the convent of Benedictine monks who reclaimed the surrounding territory. In the past, Dresano was afflicted by malaria. The town's coat of arms represents three coves surmounted by three poplars. These trees represent the typical vegetation of the area and the fertility of the territory.

Monuments and places of interest

Dresano is a small town, but it has some places of interest to visit.

Society: demographics and ethnicities

As of December 31, 2015, Dresano has 3032 inhabitants, among whom there are 228 foreigners. The most represented nationalities are Romania, Ecuador, and Turkey.

Culture: education and schools

Dresano has 1 communal nursery school, 1 elementary school, and 1 middle school, all located in Villaggio Ambrosiano.

Anthropogenic geography: urban planning

Dresano is divided into 4 residential nuclei: the historic center (Dresano Vecchio), Madonnina, Villaggio Ambrosiano, built in the 1960s, and Villaggio Helios, started in the 1990s.

Infrastructure and transport: roads

Dresano benefits from a direct connection with the main arteries of both provincial and national roads thanks to the opening of the TEEM in 2015. This highway connects Dresano with the A4 Highway, the A51 Highway, the A35 Highway, and the A1 Highway, as well as with the SP 14 Rivoltana and the SP 103 Cassanese and the State Road 415 Paullese.

In short, Dresano is a small village with a fascinating history, lush vegetation and many beauties to discover. How about taking a tour?
