Dosso del Liro

Welcome to Dosso del Liro!

Are you ready to discover our small municipality in Lombardy? With its 237 inhabitants, Dosso del Liro has an interesting history and some valuable monuments. Let's begin our tour!

History

Since 1335, the territory of Dosso del Liro was known as part of the parish of Gravedona, with which it shared various events. In the 18th century, the municipality expanded to Alpe di Camedo and, during the Napoleonic period, was aggregated to Traversa and then to Peglio, only to be returned to its autonomy in 1948.

Our coat of arms and flag, approved in 1998, symbolize Lake Como, the surrounding mountains, and the territory of the Three Parishes with its colors.

Religious architectures

Church of the Annunciation (Dosso del Liro)

The Church of the Annunciation is our parish Baroque building, consecrated in 1699, containing stuccoes and paintings of the era.

Church of San Pietro in Costa

The Church of San Pietro in Costa dates back to the 14th century and was hosted by the first parish. It contains frescoes and paintings like those of Giovanni Antonio De Lagaia. The church also has a 16th-century wooden altar and a votive canvas donated by a brotherhood composed of Dossoliresi emigrants to Palermo who survived the plague in 1577.
