The first historical evidence of the place dates back to 927, when Sigfrido of Milan sold the assets of "Dulciago" to the Friars of the Abbey of San Pietro al Monte. In the area of Dolzago, only two archaeological artifacts have been found: a granite lid and a burial rock.
Symbols
The town's flag is yellow with a blue border. The coat of arms consists of a merloned tower in the Guelph style on a green plain, representing the ancient castle, surmounted by a golden cogwheel with eight rays and twenty-four teeth, a symbol of work and progress.

Infrastructure and Transport
Between 1902 and 1915, Dolzago hosted a station of the Monza-Barzanò-Oggiono tram. Today, the municipality is served by public bus lines.
