Arino
Welcome to Arino, a hamlet in Dolo (Venice)!
We welcome you to Arino, a hamlet in the Italian municipality of Dolo (Italy), located in the metropolitan city of Venice.
Let's learn about the geography of Arino
Arino is located in the northwestern corner of the municipal territory, right at the intersection of the Cazzaghetto and Arino streets. To the north and west, it borders Pianiga, while to the east is Cazzago (Pianiga); to the southwest is Fiesso d'Artico and to the southeast is the municipal capital.
The notable watercourses that run almost parallel in a west-east direction are, starting from the north, the Cavinello drainage ditch, the Pionca drainage ditch, the Tergolino drainage ditch, and the Serraglio stream.
Let's discover the history of Arino together
Arino has ancient origins. Although the toponym derives from a Latin individual named ''Litrius'' or one of his diminutives, the dedication to Saint Michael the Archangel suggests a Lombard origin of the parish. However, the first mention of Arino dates back to 1073 with the name of ''villa Adrine''. In 1077, the ''pieve de Arino'' is mentioned instead, which was placed, with its clerics and its goods, under the direct protection of the emperor. This indicates that the village enjoyed some ecclesiastical importance. During the Middle Ages, it was owned by the people of Padua who built fortifications there during conflicts against the Republic of Venice.
Monuments and places of interest in Arino
The Parish Church of San Michele
The church of San Michele Archangel has been refurbished several times. In fact, although the first mention of the ''plebes de Arino'' dates back to 1077, it was renovated in the 15th, 18th, and 20th centuries. Inside there are various precious works like the ciborium of the main altar, made in the 18th century by Venetian artisans. In the presbytery, there is a painting by Giuseppe Tirabosco, dating back to the first half of the 18th century, that depicts ''San Michele defeating Satan''.
Villa Dondi dall'Orologio, Parolini, Baroncelli
Another interesting attraction is Villa Dondi dall'Orologio, Parolini, Baroncelli. Located in the center of Arino, despite its small size and modest lines, it is a noble complex. Built around the middle of the 18th century, it belonged to the Dondi dall'Orologio family.
