Dogliola
Hi! Today I will talk to you about Dogliola, a small Abruzzese municipality with 318 inhabitants located in the province of Chieti and belonging to the union of municipalities of Sinello.
History
Although the first settlements date back to the late Roman Empire, historical documents date back to the twelfth century when Hug of Grandinato donated the castle of Dogliola to Abbot Giovanni of Sant'Angelo in Cornacchiano.
Symbols
The municipal coat of arms and the banner were granted in 1991 by the President of the Republic. The banner features a yellow cloth.
Monuments and places of interest
Dogliola is famous for its fortified village dating back to the fourteenth century, with the defensive wall and the fortified palace of the sixteenth century. The houses are arranged in a comb-shaped urban layout on a ridge and are often enriched by arcades and remains of urban gates. In the area, we can also find the Church of San Rocco dating back to 1568, the Fonte Vecchia, and the Fonte Marina.
