The history of the name

As for the origin of the name, there are some hypotheses but it is not certain which is the true source. Some sources talk about "esule" or "esilium" as the etymological derivation of the name, which indicated a group of Christians expelled from Calmedia, today's Bosa. Other sources see the origin of the name in "esulene," which means a place exposed to the sun, or even in "desce," a Phoenician term that means pasture or grass.
