Cureggio: the history of the Piedmontese town

Cureggio is a small town located in the province of Novara, in Piedmont, with a population of about 2573 inhabitants. Initially called ''Curegg'' in Piedmontese language, the town has a long history that dates back at least to the 12th century.

Monuments and places of interest

Despite its small size, Cureggio offers several monuments and places of interest. One of the most important and ancient is the Baptistery of St. John the Baptist, built in the 12th century and one of the few examples of Romanesque art in Piedmont. The Church of Santa Maria Assunta, dating back to the 18th century, is considered one of the most beautiful churches in the area, while the Church of Madonna della Neve in Marzalesco, also built in the 12th century, is another example of Romanesque architecture.
