Croviana, a village in the valley

Croviana is a charming village located in the province of Trento, in the valley, with a population of approximately 700 inhabitants. The village has a strong agricultural, artisanal, and commercial tradition that has developed over the years thanks to its favorable geographic location. The village is also located along the National Road and is divided into three areas: "Carbonara" downstream, "Liciasa" upstream, and "Croviana" towards Malé.

History of Croviana

Croviana has a rich and fascinating history. Its coat of arms was granted by the decree of the President of the Provincial Council on April 17, 1987. The village's historical evolution was characterized by the presence of important noble families and castles that constituted its feudal structure. The Croviana Castle is one of the city's most representative monuments. It was built by the Nobili de Pezzen in the seventeenth century and later passed into the hands of the Thuns and Taddei de Salis da Tirano. Similarly, the Church of San Giorgio is one of the most important places of worship in the country. It was built in the fifteenth century and renovated in the seventeenth century.

Remarkable is the baroque chapel of the Pezzen, who had their coat of arms placed inside. The altarpiece dates back to the seventeenth century and is considered a work of great artistic value.

The Croviana Castle is another must-visit for history and culture enthusiasts. Built by the noble de Pezzen, it boasts a unique architecture with a square tower to the northeast and a baroque portal. The castle is said to hide a treasure, but also the souls of "bad castellani", transformed into toads.

Among the most significant works of art in Croviana, we find the Casa Sartori, a fifteenth-century building with two Gothic portals. The house was originally called "Belvedere" and was built by the Busetti in the 5th century. Later, it passed to the Lodrons, to the Dusinis and, finally, to the Sartoris. Nearby is also the Casa de Angeli, with a protrusion and a sundial.

Finally, the MMape is an exhibition space dedicated to bees and beekeeping. The museum is located in Plaze and is an ideal destination for enthusiasts and for all those who want to deepen their knowledge of beekeeping and its products.
