Carpentieri
Let's discover Carpentieri together: the history and physical geography of the Crotone village
Hello everyone! Today I will talk about Carpentieri, a village in Crotone located just 10.49 km from the city center.
Its history
The name derives from the Carpentieri family, which was still present in the 17th century in Santa Severina. At first, it was a practically uninhabited locality, which was crossed by a secondary road that connected Crotone to the Neto River.
Only in the second half of the 1800s, news of a real road linking Carpentieri to neighboring places such as Chiusa Grimaldi, Crepacuore, Brasimatello, Martorani, Schiavone, and Corazzello, which then allowed access to the Neto Mills, a place where the fundamental river crossing was located.
The physical geography of Carpentieri
Carpentieri is located in a plain surrounded mainly by low hills. The Neto River flows not far away, and it was crossed by an ancient road that connected Crotone to Santa Severina and the Valley.
If you have the opportunity to visit this area, I recommend taking a walk through the gentle hills, admiring the beautiful natural landscape, and observing the typical crops of the area, such as olives, vines, and citrus fruits.
