Crevacuore

Welcome to Crevacuore: Let's Discover Its History and Monuments Together

Crevacuore is a small town with a population of 1383 located in the province of Biella. The town has a historical past that is as interesting as it is unknown.

History

Among the noble dynasties that have succeeded in the town, the counts of Pombia, Aimone and the Fieschi family from Genoa are remembered. They not only ruled over Crevacuore but also held the privilege of minting coins and owning the Principality of Masserano.

In the past, there were revolts by the local population against the oppression of the Ferrero-Fieschi nobles; the most violent was the one in 1657 which led to the occupation and subsequent destruction of the castle by the citizens. The only remains of the castle are the ruins on the hill named Monte di Santa Croce.
