Welcome to Cavatigozzi: a small fraction of Cremona with a long history

Hello everyone and welcome! Today I will talk to you about Cavatigozzi, a small fraction located in the Lombardy region, in the northern Italy, in the magnificent city of Cremona. This little village has a long history, dating back to ancient times.

History: the origins of Cavatigozzi

Cavatigozzi started as a small agricultural village and was part of the Contado di Cremona. In 1809, during the Napoleonic era, the village was annexed to the city of Cremona, but regained its autonomy in 1816 when the Kingdom of Lombardy-Veneto was formed and the village was included in the Pizzighettone district of the Province of Cremona.

At the unification of Italy in 1861, Cavatigozzi had 681 inhabitants. However, the municipality of Cavatigozzi was later annexed to the municipality of Duemiglia in 1867, which in turn was incorporated into the city of Cremona in 1920.
