Hello everyone! Today I will take you to discover Cravagliana, a charming municipality located in the Piedmont region, in the Mastallone valley, a lateral valley of Valsesia. With its 268 inhabitants, Cravagliana is a small village with a lot of history.

The territory

The village is located in a continental alpine-prealpine area and is characterized by a very rainy climate (up to 2000 mm of rain per year!), mainly concentrated in spring and autumn. In winter, the landscape turns white thanks to snowfalls, which provide a very suggestive atmosphere.

Temperatures are typical of the area, with minimums below -10°C during winter and maximums above 30°C in summer.

A bit of history

Symbols

The coat of arms and the banner of the municipality of Cravagliana were granted by decree of the President of the Republic on May 13, 1957. The banner is a blue-colored drapery.

Illustrious figures

Cravagliana gave birth to many illustrious figures, including Giovanni Battista Lorenzo Bogino and Giacomo Ginotti. Moreover, the famous nineteenth-century poet Giuseppe Regaldi, famous for his friendship with Giosuè Carducci and for participating in the inauguration of the Suez Canal, is originally from our village.

Cravagliana is the ideal place for those seeking the tranquility and peace of the mountains. There are many paths that can be taken, such as the one that starts from Grassura and leads to Meula (trail no. 574), or the one that starts from Pianaronda and reaches Bocchetta di Vocca. Along these paths, you can admire splendid landscapes and enjoy the unspoiled nature. If you are passionate about excursions, you can continue from trail no. 574 to Alpe Camplasco (trail no. 576) and then descend to the hamlet of Cervatto. If, on the other hand, you prefer to reach the peak of a mountain, you can try to climb up to Pizzo Tracciora di Cervatto (1917 m above sea level, trail 576-400).
