However, the regime transformed Dopolavoro into Associazione Sportiva Fascista Cosenza, winning the Third Division Championship but without being promoted to the Second Division.

After a long series of placings and classifications in Serie B and the various categories of Italian football, Cosenza was able to win an IV Series in 1958, an Anglo-Italian Cup in 1983 and a Lega Pro Italian Cup in 2014-2015, becoming the first and only Calabrian team to win a national trophy. The highest result in Serie B was achieved in 1991-1992, when the club finished fifth in the standings, just two points away from promotion to the top flight.
