The history of Coseano

The history of Coseano dates back to the Napoleonic period, when the municipality was officially established in 1818. From that moment on, Coseano has experienced important moments, such as the plebiscite of Veneto in 1866, which marked the passage of Veneto and much of Friuli to the Kingdom of Italy. In this context, Coseano was the village where the highest number of votes against annexation to the Kingdom of Italy were recorded. This result was considered a scandal and caused serious unrest, so much so that the parish priest Don Antonio Riva, who had been held responsible for the refusal, had to flee from a lynching by disguising himself as a carabiniere.

The symbols of Coseano

In the municipal coat of arms of Coseano, granted by royal decree on July 11, 1941, the temple of Janus is represented placed on Campagna in green, on a blue background. The flag of the municipality is instead a blue cloth.
