History

Induno Olona has an ancient and very rich history. According to some historians, its origin dates back to the 5th century BC, during the invasions of the Gauls in the Lombard area. We do know for certain, however, that the Romans founded a stable settlement only in the 1st century BC in Valceresio. After the fall of the Roman Empire, the settlement of Induno was ruled by the Lombards, who built the Tower Pezza and the Castle of Frascarolo.

During the 19th century, Induno Olona transformed from an agricultural village into an industrial one, thanks to the presence of the Olona river which powered six factories. Additionally, in 1903, the Valganna railway was activated, connecting Induno to Varese and Luino.

Symbols

The coat of arms and the gonfalon of Induno Olona were granted by decree of the President of the Republic on January 7th, 1956.
