History

The village of Cornovecchio has always been heavily contested between the nearby cities of Milan, Cremona, Piacenza, and Lodi. In the twelfth century, it passed into ownership of the church of Milan, before being acquired by important Lombard families. Later, in 1385, the village was granted to the Bevilacqua (Veneto) by the famous Gian Galeazzo Visconti. During the Napoleonic age, Cornovecchio was included in the Municipality of Corno Giovine, then regaining autonomy with the constitution of the Lombardo-Veneto Kingdom. In 1866, the municipality of Cascina Lardera was then incorporated.
