Corno di Rosazzo

Welcome to Corno di Rosazzo!

Corno di Rosazzo is a small municipality in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, with a history dating back to Roman times. The area was inhabited since the Mesolithic period and belonged to the patriarchs of Aquileia, who then gave it to the Rosazzo Abbey in 1135. The name Corno comes from the stream that flows near the village, while Rosazzo takes its name from the roses that grow in the area.

Discover the Monuments and Places of Interest

One of the most interesting places is the Sanctuary of Madonna d'Aiuto, on the left bank of the Corno stream. The church was built in 1655 to preserve a small statue depicting the Madonna, which was said to have been carried by the river's current. Every year, from August 15 to September 8, the 'Perdòn' is celebrated in honor of Madonna d'Aiuto.

The Church of Santa Maria del Rosario, dating back to 1400, is another important monument. In 1674, renovation and expansion works began, which were completed after 62 years. Inside the church, you can admire an eighteenth-century organ and two paintings by the painter Antonio Brollo di Gemona.

Near the church is Villa Bigozzi-Cabassi, whose main building dates back to 1700, while the porch was built in 1800. The wing facing the Corno stream seems to be even older, dating back to the seventeenth century.

The Chiesetta di San Giacomo Apostolo, in Noax, dates back to the thirteenth century and has been enlarged and renovated over the centuries. Inside, you can admire frescoes from the late fourteenth and early fifteenth centuries, as well as an eighteenth-century polychrome marble altar that houses a painting by the painter Leopoldo Zuccolo.
