History of Cornegliano Laudense

The history of Cornegliano Laudense dates back to ancient times. It was long governed by the Captains of Cornegliano, and later controlled by the Counts Barni from 1633. In the Napoleonic period (1809-1816), Cornegliano became a hamlet of Lodi, but regained its autonomy when the Lombardo-Veneto Kingdom was created in 1815. In 1863, Cornegliano officially became "Cornegliano Laudense" to distinguish itself from other locations with the same name. In 1879, the municipality of Cascina Campolungo was annexed to Cornegliano Laudense and the municipal seat was transferred to the hamlet of Muzza Sant'Angelo. In the 1970s, the hamlet of Muzza Sant'Angelo experienced significant growth, thanks to its location along the State Road 235 and its proximity to the A1 motorway.

Symbols of Cornegliano Laudense

Our coat of arms is a red castle towered on a green meadow, with three blue stars above. Our banner is a white and red drapery, decorated with silver embroidery and charged with the Municipality's coat of arms. We are very proud of these symbols that represent our town.

Monuments and places of interest

The Church of San Callisto Martire is located in the central part of the town. Originally mentioned in documents from 1261, the church contains the Madonna between two Saints fresco and a Nativity scene. The façade features late Renaissance style with Baroque influences. Additionally, the Church of Muzza Sant'Angelo contains frescoes by the Lodi painter Vanelli such as the Divine Maternity, the Piety and the Glory of the blessed around the Resurrected Christ. There are also various terracotta plaques that depict the characters of the Last Supper. We cherish these artistic treasures and we hope you will love them too!
