History: Brazzano and World War I

The history of Brazzano is linked to World War I and the presence of the border between Austria-Hungary and Italy. When the two countries began to quarrel, two Italian soldiers, Pietro Dell'Acqua and Costantino Carta, were tasked with guarding the Brazzano bridge. At the sight of some Austrian saboteurs intending to blow up the bridge, the two finance guards opened fire. The following day, Italian troops occupied Brazzano and Cormons and mine equipment and dynamite charges were found on the bridge. The courageous action of the two finance guards earned them the bronze medal of military valor.

Monuments and places of interest: between churches and winemaking tradition

The hamlet of Brazzano boasts numerous interesting churches, such as the Church of St. George - situated on a hill dominating the village - the Church of St. Lawrence, and the Church of St. Roch. The area is particularly suitable for lovers of good wine. Here, the famous Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso, Friulano, and Picolit are produced.

The main activity of the hamlet of Brazzano is agriculture, with all related activities, including agritourism. The area is much loved by tourists for its hilly landscapes and its winemaking production.

Events: the Festival of Central European Peoples

Brazzano and the nearby town of Giassico celebrate the Festival of Central European Peoples from August 18th to 20th. During the festival, the Wine of Peace is presented, a particular wine created specifically for the occasion.
