Physical geography
Territory
Cormano is located in the high Lombard plain, at 149 m a.s.l. If you're used to seeing only skyscrapers and traffic, you'll be surprised to know that much of the municipality is still agricultural, particularly in the area of the Balossa Park and north of the municipality near Paderno Dugnano. The Seveso river runs through the Brusuglio district, not far from the border with Bresso.
Cormano is a municipality in the first urban belt of Milan, bordering with the municipalities of Bollate, Bresso, Cusano Milanino, Novate Milanese, and Paderno Dugnano. If you feel like visiting the city, keep in mind that it is about 10 kilometers, as the crow flies, from Milan's Piazza del Duomo.
Climate
Cormano has a continental climate, so you'll experience cold winters with many frosty days and hot, humid summers, but moderately rainy. During the summer, temperatures can exceed 30 °C and humidity can reach 80%, causing the phenomenon of AfA. The good news is that unlike in the past, autumn and winter fog is becoming increasingly rare.
History
Cormano is a place of ancient origins. During Roman civilization, the ''via Mediolanum-Bellasium'' passed through Cormano, a road that connected Milan to Bellagio. In the past, it was part of the Bruzzano parish in the Milanese territory. Only in 1871 was the suppressed municipality of Brusuglio added to the territory of the municipality of Cormano.
In the 19th century, Cormano underwent unprecedented demographic and building development, which led it to become a conurbation with neighboring municipalities and with Milan itself.
Symbols
Do you know Cormano's coat of arms? It was granted together with the gonfalon by the President of the Republic on March 16, 1956. The coat of arms is blazoned and specifically, the municipal shield is divided with a silver head.
The bull in the coat of arms is a reference to the Manzoni family, because Villa Manzoni stood on their property. Are you curious to see Cormano's coat of arms? Take a look on the municipality's website!
