Conselve

Welcome to Conselve

Hello everyone! Today I want to talk to you about Conselve, an Italian municipality located in the province of Padua, in Veneto. Around 9,927 people live here, and it's only 20 km south of the main city.

A brief history of Conselve

Conselve's history is fascinating: the first documents date back to 954, when it was referred to as "Caput Silvae" and "Caput Silvis". At that time, Conselve was a place located at the beginning of the forest, widely frequented and with a strong connection to the Roman era. Just visiting the municipality shows nature being an essential part of this place's history: many parts of the municipality still appear like swamps made of marshes, ponds, and easily overflowing watercourses, and dense woodland vegetation. Over the centuries, Conselve has passed under various dominations, such as those of the Visigoths and Huns hordes, Lombards, Carolingians, and the Serene Republic.

The Liberation of Conselve

The liberation of Conselve occurred in 1866 when the municipality became part of the Kingdom of Italy. In 1914, during World War I, many men from the city were called up, causing an economic crisis. The partisan brigades were born during World War II, and unfortunately in 1944, Conselve was occupied by German SS troops, resulting in many casualties. But finally, on April 28, 1945, an unforgettable day, the first English vanguards arrived in Conselve, bringing peace and justice.

What to do in Conselve

Today, Conselve is a very modern city, with many beautiful shops and restaurants. However, if you visit the municipality, there are some things you can't afford to miss, such as the Cathedral of Saint Osvaldo, dating back to the 10th century, and the ruins of the Carolingian Castle, dating back to 948. And if you are a nature lover, I recommend visiting the Valle Sigura Nature Reserve, where you can admire the typical hill fauna and flora of the area.

Conclusion

Conselve is a place rich in history and nature, unique in its kind. I hope you found this brief glimpse of the city interesting and that you can visit it very soon.
