Scomìgo, the village of ceramics

Hello everyone! Today I want to tell you about a wonderful hamlet in the municipality of Conegliano, in the province of Treviso: Scomìgo. This small village, located about 7 km from the municipal capital, is known throughout the Veneto region as the village of ceramics. Here's what makes Scomìgo so special!

Monuments and places of interest

Scomìgo: the town of pottery and traditional festivals.

Church of Sant'Elena

The church of Sant'Elena is one of the most interesting monuments in the village. In the past it was a subsidiary of Ogliano, but became a parish in 1746 by decree of Bishop Lorenzo Da Ponte. Shortly thereafter, in 1779, it was suppressed and incorporated back into the parish of Ogliano as a curacy. It returned to being a parish in 1797, thanks to the order of Bishop Giambenedetto Falier who re-consecrated it in 1798.

In 1865, the church of Sant'Elena was restored and enlarged at the request of Bishop Manfredo Giovanni Battista Bellati. After the works, the church was re-consecrated on October 27, 1867. Behind the main altar you can admire a work of particular value: the "Madonna and Child on a throne between Sant'Elena and San Tiziano" by Francesco Beccaruzzi.

Ceramic route

But the real pride of Scomìgo is ceramics. The village's ceramists have created an artistic route that includes several large-sized works on the walls and streets of Scomìgo. It is a unique experience that allows you to discover the beauty of local ceramics and admire the creativity of its artists.

Events and festivals

Scomìgo is also famous for its traditional festivals. The most important is the Sagra di Sant'Elena, held every year in the second half of August. During the festival, the village comes alive with music, dances and games for young and old. There are also gastronomic stands where you can taste local delicacies.

But the most characteristic festival of Scomìgo is definitely the "Ceramic Workshop in the Village". This festival is held every year in September and is entirely dedicated to the art of ceramics. During the event, the village's ceramists open the doors of their workshops and show how they create their masterpieces. There is also an arts and crafts market, where you can purchase real works of art.

Conclusions

Scomìgo is a small village that hides hidden treasures. Its church, the ceramic route, the traditional festivals: everything contributes to making Scomìgo a magical and enchanted place. If you are passionate about art and culture, you cannot miss a visit to this jewel of Veneto.
