Welcome to Lusiana Conco: a brief journey to discover the municipality

Hello friends! Are you ready for a brief excursion to discover a beautiful Italian municipality? Today I will talk about Lusiana Conco, a scattered municipality in the province of Vicenza, Veneto, with a population of 4670. Lusiana Conco was established on February 20, 2019, thanks to the merger of the two former municipalities of Conco and Lusiana. The municipality is located on the Altopiano dei Sette Comuni, on the southern slope, and extends over an area of 61.19 km².

Physical geography: where is Lusiana Conco and what are its peculiarities?

You may wonder where Lusiana Conco is located? The municipality extends over a vast area, of which a part north of the plateau is known as the "new heritage". This particular situation is due to the partition of the collective assets that had belonged to the ancient Spettabile Reggenza dei Sette Comuni. The municipal territory reaches the minimum altitude of 229 meters (at the Laverda fraction) and the maximum of 1388 meters (Gusella or Mosca mountain), which becomes 2336 meters if considering Cima XII, the highest mountain in the province and all the Vicentine pre-Alps, owned by the Lusiana Conco municipality.

In the surroundings of the municipality, it is possible to admire numerous valleys generated by water erosion and, above all, extensive forest formations that include beech woods, fir woods, oak woods, and hornbeam-ostrya woods. To the north, within the boundaries of the new heritage, spruces and lily of the valley are the dominant species, as well as high-altitude meadows and rock areas. While due to the karst phenomenon, it is not easy to find water on the surface, with the exception of the Covolo valley. The fauna is also very varied, with the presence of numerous mammals, including wolves, bears, wild boars, and foxes, and reptiles such as the viper, the collar snake, and the wall lizard.
