The territory
Concerviano is located in a mountainous area in the Salto Valley, near Mount Terminillo. It's characterized by beautiful hilly plateaus, with an altitude that varies from 600 to 1000 meters above sea level. How wonderful it is to admire the natural beauty of this area!
The climate
If you love cold climates, Concerviano is the place for you! The town is located in an area classified as E and reaches an average temperature of 2241 GR/G. Its winter characteristics are very cold, while summers are pleasant.
The history
The city of Concerviano dates back to the 8th century AD, when the town was called Collis Cervinus. The name derives from the words "hill" and "deer", which probably refer to the Latin personnel CERVIUS and the descriptive adjective suffix "-ANUS", which indicates land ownership. The city was connected to the Abbey of San Salvatore Maggiore founded by the Farfa Abbey. In 1282, together with other castles of the Abbey of San Salvatore, it came under the jurisdiction of the Municipality of Rieti. In the seventeenth century, Concerviano was united with the Farfa Abbey by Pope Urban VIII and the municipality definitively lost its autonomy. Today the town preserves the ancient urban layout and medieval towers. Additionally, Garibaldi is believed to have stopped here to sleep in Concerviano.
Monuments and places of interest
Concerviano has many beauties to discover, including the chapel of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. It's located in the locality of Bivio Concerviano, on the provincial road of the province of Rieti## 60-69. The chapel is part of a large residential structure dating back to the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. It's definitely worth a visit.
