Porto Garibaldi is the oldest of the seven beaches of Comacchio, and is situated on the north side of the canal port. The name of the locality was changed on April 13th, 1919, in honor of Giuseppe Garibaldi, who found refuge here in 1849 from Austrian troops.

Porto Garibaldi is rich in events and traditions. One of the most important is the Madonna del Mare festival, a procession that takes place in the canal port with decorated boats followed by fireworks.
