Porto Garibaldi: a gem on the Adriatic coast

If you're in search of an authentic and characteristic seaside destination, Porto Garibaldi is the perfect place for you! This hamlet of Comacchio, located on the Adriatic coast in the province of Ferrara, boasts a long history and a strong fishing tradition.

History

Porto Garibaldi is the oldest of the seven beaches of Comacchio, and is situated on the north side of the canal port. The historic district, called Magnavacca, dates back to the seventeenth century and is home to numerous historic buildings such as the Torre Bianca watchtower, the Bettolino, the house of Count Ciabatta, the customs and port delegation building, and many others.

The name of the locality was changed on April 13th, 1919, in honor of Giuseppe Garibaldi, who found refuge here in 1849 from Austrian troops.
