Colzate

Colzate, a small municipality in the mountains of Lombardy

Hello everyone, today I will talk about Colzate, a small municipality in the province of Bergamo, in Lombardy. With its 1649 inhabitants, it is a small gem nestled among the mountains of the Seriana Valley.

Physical geography

The territory of Colzate is very diverse. From the peaks surrounding the municipality, including Mount Segredònt and Mount Tisa, to the alluvial plain of the Serio River, which crosses the country at an altitude of about 393 meters above sea level.

The historic center develops on a slightly elevated plateau while the hamlets of Bondo and Barbata, together with the mountain villages of Rezzo and Uni, are located on the slopes of Mount Cavlera.

Colzate: nature and tranquility among the mountains of Lombardy.

Municipal territory and hydrography

The municipal territory has a triangular shape and extends from the course of the Serio River, which divides it from the municipality of Casnigo, to the Val del Riso. In addition to the Serio River, there are also numerous watercourses, such as the Canale dei Frati, the Rio Pisonda, the Rezzo and the Preda, all characterized by a low flow.

One curiosity to report is that in the alluvial area there is an artificial canal that draws water from the course of the Serio River and returns it a few hundred meters downstream.

Roads and transportation

The main road that connects Colzate to the state road 671 of the Seriana Valley and Vertova develops outside the village and is limited to a very simple road network outside the historic center. The industrial area is located right next to the Serio River and is characterized by the presence of some artisanal and commercial activities, some of which have a long history in the community.

Conclusions

Colzate is a small municipality characterized by the beauty of the mountains that surround it and the Serio River that crosses it. An ideal place for those seeking tranquility and nature, far from the frenzy of big cities. If you have the opportunity to visit it, you will not be disappointed.
