History
Colturano has ancient origins as an agricultural locality and was part of the territory of Mediglia during the Napoleonic era. It was only with the establishment of the Lombard-Venetian Kingdom that it regained its autonomy. Today, Colturano maintains the atmosphere of the past, with its cobbled streets and ancient brick houses.
Symbols
The symbol of Colturano is its coat of arms, which depicts a red rampant lion on a golden background and three silver roses underneath.
Society
Since 1751, when the municipality had 217 inhabitants, the population has steadily grown, reaching 669 inhabitants in 1853. Today, foreigners residing in the municipality make up 7.46% of the population, with a significant presence of Romanian, Filipino, and Moroccan nationalities.
Anthropogenic Geography
The municipal territory of Colturano includes the inhabited center with its main square, the hamlet of Balbiano, as well as the locations of Industrie and Municipio. Don't miss a walk along the Lambro River, which runs through the municipality.
