Civo: a scattered municipality in the province of Sondrio

Civo, located in Lombardy, is a scattered municipality with 1,114 inhabitants. The area does not have a main inhabited center, but is composed of numerous small geographical fractions that are distant from each other. The municipality of Civo is located in the fraction of Serone.

Physical geography

Civo develops in the right orographic side of Valtellina known as "Costiera dei Cech". It extends from the entrance of the Val Masino to the end of Valtellina, in the municipality of Dubino. Additionally, the territory of Civo includes the Spluga Valley.

History

The coat of arms and flag of Civo were granted in 1989 with a decree of the President of the Republic.

Monuments and places of interest

Among the points of interest in Civo are numerous churches, such as the collegiate parish church of Bartolomeo apostolo in the fraction of Caspano, perhaps built in the 12th century and renovated until the 18th century. Other important sacred buildings are the prepositural church of San Giacomo in the fraction of Roncaglia, built in 1654, and the parish church of Andrea apostolo in the fraction of Civo, reconstructed in 1697.

Society

In the municipality of Civo there are 26 foreign citizens, according to the census of 2015. During the census, a total of 1,115 inhabitants were registered in the various fractions and residential centers.

Anthropological geography

Civo is divided into different localities, fractions and maggenghi. Among the fractions of the municipality, there are Acquamarcia, Bedoglio, Caspano, Cevo, Chempo, Santa Croce, Serone and Vallate, among others. There are also different localities, including Riegno and Cà Donai.

Infrastructures and transports

STPS Sondrio manages interurban transport in Civo, which is carried out through line services. Additionally, the municipality has a good network of roads that connect the different fractions and localities.

In summary, Civo is a scattered municipality consisting of numerous fractions and localities. Among the attractions of the area are numerous churches of great historical and artistic value. Despite the lack of a main urban center, transport is well organized thanks to a bus service provided by STPS Sondrio. Finally, the various roads that cross the territory make it easy to connect the different fractions and localities of the municipality.
