Trestina

Hello everyone! Today I want to talk to you about one of my favorite soccer clubs, the Sporting Club Trestina A.S.D, or simply Trestina, as us soccer fans call it. If you're a soccer enthusiast in Italy, you know that Trestina represents the fraction of Trestina, in the municipality of Città di Castello in the province of Perugia.

The History

The club was founded in 1950 as Unione Sportiva Sporting Club, with a focus on amateur and non-competitive sports practice. The matches were played in various locations around Valtiberina because the team didn't have its own internal field. In 1956, they decided to affiliate with FIGC, and the name changed to Sporting Club Città di Castello, but ten years later, the headquarters was moved to Trestina, and the club name was adjusted accordingly. The change of location aimed to provide the team with an exclusive internal field, the newly built San Donato stadium.

The Success

Trestina boasts ten participations in Serie D, also playing for the 2022-2023 season. However, they never reached the professional divisions. In 1999-2000, Trestina gained access to Promozione, and in the 2003-2004 season, they reached Eccellenza Umbria. The bianconeri managed to stabilize and won the playoffs in 2010-2011, reaching the promotion to Serie D. After four seasons, in 2014-2015, Trestina had a negative season and suffered relegation to Eccellenza, but already the following year, they won the championship and returned to the highest amateur level, where they have since stabilized: the 2021-2022 biennium coincided with the tenth season of participation in that league.
