Physical Geography

Cis is located in Val di Sole, at the borders of Val di Non. The municipal territory is a descending plateau that stretches between the Noce and Barnes streams. History

Cis' symbol is a red and green shield surmounted by the municipal crown. In the center, there's a castle, and above the castle, two hands clasping. In the lower part of the emblem, the Barnes stream flows. Cis' flag is white with two red and green side poles, bordered with silver with five inverted Guelph merlons.

The church of San Giorgio in Cis dates back to the 13th century. In the municipality, there's also the castle of Mostizzolo, also dating back to the 13th century.

Society

Cis is not densely populated, with only 302 inhabitants. In the 2001 census, only 3.34% of the population declared themselves "Ladin".

Infrastructure and Transport

The locality of Mostizzolo, in the center of the municipality of Cis, is crossed by the 42nd state road of Tonale and Mendola. Here, the 43rd state road of Val di Non also starts, connecting the area with other nearby municipalities and cities.
