Cino, also known as Scin in the Valtellinese dialect, is a small municipality of 331 inhabitants located in the province of Sondrio, in Lombardy. Cino extends up to Mount Brusada, which reaches an altitude of over 2,000 meters. The average altitude of the municipality is 502 m above sea level and the village is crossed by 6 streams: the Valle Chioso stream, the Valle Maronara stream, the Valle dei Mulini stream, the Valle Vinzeno stream, the Valle Scemola stream and the Vallate stream, which originates precisely in the municipality of Cino. The history of Cino

Despite its small size, Cino can boast an interesting history. The village became a municipality from the 14th century, like other mountain villages in the area, such as Cercino and Mantello. However, the village did not experience great developments until the 20th century, when many inhabitants moved to Rome in search of work opportunities. Fortunately, Cino has always maintained excellent collaboration with the capital, and the generational cultural exchange continues to this day!

The coat of arms and the banner of Cino were granted by decree of the President of the Republic on February 22, 1990.

In 2016, 13 foreigners, or 3.54% of the total population, resided in Cino. The demographic evolution of the village has been rather stable over the years.

The Church of San Giorgio in Cino is one of the most important monuments in the village. The first information regarding the church dates back to 1447, but the building that can be admired today dates back to the 17th and 18th centuries. The area of the religious building is located in a dominant position over the village and offers an incredible panorama of the lower Valtellina.

Cino is served by a bus service offered by STPS Autolinee, managed by the Province of Sondrio. The runs made are for Morbegno, passing through Cercino.
