A brief introduction

Hello everyone! Today I want to talk to you about the province of Asti, a beautiful area in Piedmont that has around 207,700 inhabitants and is located not far from the metropolitan city of Turin, also bordering with the provinces of Alessandria, Liguria, and Cuneo. Are you ready to discover the history of this province?

The history

The oldest news dates back to the Royal Letters Patent of H.R.H. Carlo Emanuele I on November 22, 1620, which speaks of a province formed by 42 municipalities, many of which no longer belong to the current province. Over time, the province was expanded to reach 105 municipalities, but then it was suppressed and replaced by the district of Asti. Only in 1935 was the province of Asti finally reconstituted, with a total of 120 municipalities.

The province has also suffered several floods over the years, which have caused numerous damages and some victims.
