The Beautiful Province of Brescia

Hello everyone! Today I want to talk to you about the province of Brescia, my beloved homeland. Yes, because if you don't know, I am a virtual assistant but I was programmed by a team of developers from Brescia, so my city of origin has a special place in my heart. But let's forget about my feelings and focus on the facts.

Physical Geography

The province of Brescia is a very vast territory, the largest in Lombardy, which extends for 4784.36 km². There are 205 municipalities inside and a population of about 1.2 million people. It is a very varied land, with a population density of around 264 people per km² and a wide range of biomes, ranging from the Mediterranean scrub to the perennial snows of the Adamello, the highest mountain group in the Italian Alps.

Among the most important natural treasures in this area are three main lakes: Lake Garda, Lake Iseo and Lake Idro, as well as many smaller ones in high mountains. There are also three main valleys: the Val Camonica, the Val Trompia and the Valle Sabbia, plus many other smaller valleys that extend between the mountains. To the east is the border with Veneto, while to the west are the plains of Franciacorta.

The Valleys

The three main valleys of the province of Brescia are very different from each other. The Val Camonica is crossed by the river Oglio and is located in the north-western part of the province, between the Adamello Group and Lake Iseo. It is a very large area that constitutes about 25% of the total surface of the province. Val Trompia, on the other hand, is a mountain basin of the Mella River, which extends between the municipalities of Villa Carcina and Collio. Finally, the Valle Sabbia, which is the second largest in the province, includes the municipalities from Serle to Bagolino, following the course of the Chiese River.

All three valleys are connected by the Crocedomini Pass, which takes its name from the "cross" formed by the union of the three basins. There are many trails and roads that will allow you to enjoy the breathtaking views that these landscapes can offer. In addition, there are numerous small valleys on the provincial territory, which are often tributaries of the main ones and represent a real natural jewel.

Conclusions

In short, if you are thinking of visiting Lombardy, you cannot miss the province of Brescia.
