History of Chiaramonti

At the fall of the Judicate in 1259, Chiaramonti passed to the Doria, but was then driven out in 1348 by the Crown of Aragon army. However, in 1357 it was taken over by Brancaleone Doria, husband of Eleonora d'Arborea, and became part of the Judicate of Arborea together with other territories. In 1448, it definitively passed to the Aragonese following the defeat of Nicolò Doria and became a fief. In the 18th century, it was incorporated into the Principality of Anglona granted to the Pimentel family, but then passed to the Tellez-Giron family and was redeemed in 1839 with the suppression of the feudal system.
