Chiampo

Welcome to Chiampo: An Overview of the Town

Hello everyone! Today we will talk about the beautiful town of Chiampo, located in the province of Vicenza, Veneto. With its 12,523 inhabitants, the municipality of Chiampo is divided into two areas: the mountainous area and the lowland, rich in agricultural, industrial, and economic activities. It is nestled in the middle of the Chiampo Valley, on the edge of the Lessini Mountains. The Chiampo River flows through the municipal territory and is a tributary of the Alpone stream, which is located near San Bonifacio, in the province of Verona.

History

The municipality of Chiampo has an illustrious history, which is evident by looking at its symbols. The coat of arms and the banner were granted by royal decree on May 8, 1933 and are inspired by a bas-relief on which a jumping goat supporting an eagle between its horns was sculpted. The image was found in the early 1930s, and it was believed to be the symbol of the Chiampo community under the domination of the Venetian Republic. It was, in fact, the coat of arms of the noble Capra of Vicenza, preserved in what had been a marble workshop.
