Nadro

Welcome to Nadro: the fraction of Ceto immersed in Lombardian nature

Welcome to Nadro, a flourishing fraction of Ceto, a municipality in Val Camonica in the province of Brescia, Lombardy, Italy. With a population of 655 inhabitants, Nadro is a lively and welcoming community that extends over a difference in altitude of about 300 meters, from a mountainous area to the east to a plain to the west near the Oglio river.

The natural territory of Nadro

The territory of Nadro borders the municipalities of Cimbergo, Capo di Ponte, and Ono San Pietro. Nadro is located about 75 km from Brescia and is well connected to the city thanks to the Tonale and della Mendola 42 state road. The historical center of the village develops along Via Piana, a north-south axis that begins from the ancient medieval nucleus formed by a tower-house.

The eastern Sector of Nadro, the forested area that is part of the Natural Reserve of Rock Engravings of Ceto, Cimbergo, and Paspardo, is characterized by chestnut, fir, and walnut trees. In the flat western area of the village, once used for cultivation but now urbanized, there are false acacia trees, an imported species that suffocates native plants.

The hydrographic importance of Nadro

Nadro is located on the right hydrographic side of the Figna stream, whose course marked the ancient border between the communities of Ceto and Nadro. The stream descends from the mountains of Cimbergo and joins the Oglio river at the end of its path. The Figna, very important in the past, was the subject of a long dispute between the community of Nadro and that of Cimbergo, which was resolved only with the intervention of the Serenissimo.
