Cesinali

Cesinali: History and Territory

Cesinali is a municipality in the province of Avellino, in Campania, with a population of 2,561 inhabitants. The name of the town seems to derive from the Germanic term "cesine", which means "cedar forest", i.e. a land cleared for human settlement and agriculture. The origin of the center is linked to the Lombard culture and the political and administrative events of the adjacent Atripalda. In 1927, the town was merged with Aiello del Sabato and only regained its autonomy in 1950. Cesinali also includes a small village, Villa San Nicola, with a population of about 400.
