Cervignano d'Adda

Cervignano d'Adda: history and symbols

Hello everyone! Today I will talk about Cervignano d'Adda, a municipality in the province of Lodi in Lombardy. Its history dates back to 1530, when the Duke of Milan Francesco Sforza granted the town as a fief to Alessandro Remignani. Later, it passed to the Tassis family who held it until 1782. During the Napoleonic era, Cervignano was united with Quartiano, but regained autonomy with the establishment of the Lombardo-Veneto Kingdom. The most notable building is the parish church, dating back to 1689, which stands on the site of an older church, of which nothing remains. The municipality also has a coat of arms and a banner.

Monuments and places of interest

A place I recommend visiting is the Madonna wall icon, located on "Via della Chiesa", near the "Roggia Bertonica". It was built at the beginning of the 20th century and repainted by the Lodigian master Cesare Minestra in 1949. I also recommend admiring the bell tower of the parish church.

The treasures of Cervignano d'Adda: history, monuments and local life.

Society

Cervignano has a population of 2163 inhabitants. As of December 31, 2008, foreigners residing in the municipality were 108, or 5.61% of the population. Among the most represented nationalities are Morocco, Romania, Tunisia and Egypt.

Economy

The economy of Cervignano is mainly based on agriculture, with about ten family-run companies dedicated to livestock farming. There is also an industry that produces plastic materials and some small businesses operating in the mechanical and food sectors.

Administration

If you are interested in local politics, below is a list of local administrations.
