Cervesina is a picturesque town in the province of Pavia in Lombardy, Italy. This delightful town is located on the right bank of the river Po, near the confluence of the Staffora stream. With a population of just over a thousand residents, Cervesina is a warm and welcoming community.
History
Cervesina has a rich and fascinating history that dates back to the Middle Ages. During this time, Cervesina and San Gaudenzio were two separate communities, with the latter enjoying greater importance from a religious standpoint.
Following the Beccaria dynasty's rule, a branch of the Beccaria family, the comunes became autonomous fiefs. In the sixteenth century, Matteo Beccaria became the marchese of Mortara, reaching the pinnacle of power in the area. However, as he had no male heirs, the fief of San Gaudenzio and Cervesina was inherited by the Taverna family of Milan, the counts of Landriano, who dominated the area until the end of feudalism in 1797.
In the eighteenth century, San Gaudenzio was merged with Cervesina, which became known as Cervesina con San Gaudenzio. This was a time of great change for Cervesina, with the expansion of the city north of the right bank of the Staffora. However, the course of the Po river shifted south, damaging much of the settlement. Since then, the town has been rebuilt and redistributed in less vulnerable positions.

The town's coat of arms features a deer's head and the Taverna family's coat of arms, the town's last feudal family. The flag is red.

The San Gaudenzio castle is one of the town's main landmarks. This picturesque castle was built in the fifteenth century and has remained intact for centuries.
