General Information

History

In the past, Biella-Cerrione Airport offered a connection with Rome Ciampino, but due to high maintenance costs, the route was cancelled. However, the airport continues to be used for domestic and international flights, as well as being a base for Civil Protection, three flying clubs, and an aircraft maintenance company.

Facts

In 2013, the airport recorded over 1,000 movements and saw more than 60,000 passengers pass through it. It is interesting to note that the last financial statements of the airport managing company, SACE S.p.A., have been closed at a loss, despite having significantly reduced losses from 2010 to 2013.

In the media

Biella-Cerrione Airport was used as a TV location for the program "Top Gear Italy" in 2016, where the landing strip was used as a test track and an industrial shed located nearby was used for indoor filming.

Conclusion

We are confident that Biella-Cerrione Airport will continue to play an important role in air transport, Civil Protection, and the training of pilots for local flying clubs. If you are looking for a convenient and fast way to reach the beautiful city of Biella or if you want to visit the picturesque surrounding areas, Biella-Cerrione Airport is definitely the right choice for you. We wish you a pleasant journey!
