Physical geography

Ceresole d'Alba is located within the geographic delineation of the Roero, an area well-known for wine production. History

The history of Ceresole d'Alba dates back to 1041 when Emperor Henry III the Black gave the fief of Ceresole to the Bishop of Asti's Diocese. In the thirteenth century, the estate passed to the Montaldo and Anterixio families. In 1347, the Casa Roero acquired the fief from the Viscontea lordship of Asti. In the fifteenth century, the fights between the French and the Spaniards led to the destruction of the village and the decimation of the inhabitants. In 1944, during World War II, Ceresole d'Alba was an active partisan center where a group of 350 Germans killed ten young people from the area.

Symbols

The municipal coat of arms consists of a natural cherry tree, with red fruits. The banner is a red cloth. The cherry tree is an iconic tree of the Roero, the geographic area where Ceresole d'Alba is located. Its fruits, cherries, are appreciated for their sweet taste and beneficial health properties.

There are no specific honors assigned to Ceresole d'Alba as a municipality, but many people in the area have been recognized for their contribution to the culture and history of the territory. Among these people, there is the painter Michele Ferrero, whose museum is in Ceresole itself.
