Aselogna: the story of a Veronese hamlet

Hello everyone! Today I will talk about Aselogna, a hamlet in the municipality of Cerea in the province of Verona. Together we will discover its millennial history, the events that take place here, and the illustrious people who were born here.

History

Let's start with the history of Aselogna, which dates back to the distant year of 923, when it was remembered as a fief of Verona. Over the centuries, the hamlet has undergone various vicissitudes, including the arrival of Napoleon's troops in 1797 and the devastation of the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary during the Second World War.

The Church, mentioned for the first time in 1460 as a parish with a baptismal font and sufficient ecclesiastical furnishings to celebrate mass, was rebuilt after the conflict and preserves inside an important historical testimony: the organ inaugurated in 1892.

Among the illustrious people who were born in this hamlet are Isidoro Orlandi (1781-1853), self-taught and lover of literature who distinguished himself for his teaching activities, and Alessandro Bazzani (1807-1892), patriot and lover of the German language, who was the author of important historical and literary works.
