Located just 4.38 kilometers from the center of the municipality to which it belongs, Roata Chiusani has 567 inhabitants and is situated at 452 meters above sea level.

The name Roata Chiusani has a particular origin that dates back to the Middle Ages. "Roata" means "wrinkled" and indicates the hamlet aligned along the main road. "Chiusani", on the other hand, is linked to the landowners of the area, the Caissotti counts, who frequented a "hunting lodge" near the capital.

The small cluster of houses in Roata Chiusani originally belonged to the abbots of Pedona. Later on, the surrounding forest was turned into fertile fields and the hamlet was passed on to the Marquis of Saluzzo. In the 18th century, the hamlet suffered a plague epidemic that was defeated, according to tradition, thanks to the intercession of the Madonna Addolorata.

Economy

The economy of Roata Chiusani is mainly based on agriculture and the production of poultry, agricultural machinery, and fruit crates, which are also exported abroad.

How to get to Roata Chiusani

Roata Chiusani is not served by rail transport, but it is possible to reach the hamlet thanks to local public transport lines. Line 8 (Cuneo Conurbation) departs from Cuneo railway station and passes through Roata Chiusani, while line 30 (Extraurban) connects Cuneo to the town center. In this way, the inhabitants of the hamlet can access other connections offered by urban and extra-urban public transport, and to Cuneo railway station.
