Cazzano Sant'Andrea
Welcome to Cazzano Sant'Andrea!
Hello everyone! Today I will take you on a journey to discover Cazzano Sant'Andrea, a small town in the province of Bergamo, Lombardy, with a population of 1641 inhabitants. The locals affectionately call it "Cazzà", and they are very proud of their land.
Territory
The territory of Cazzano Sant'Andrea is perfectly hilly and is located in the Val Gandino, on the left bank of the Serio river. It is about 24 km northeast of the city of Bergamo and is part of the Mountain Community of the Seriana Valley.
The territory is predominantly mountainous and ranges from 412 meters above sea level to the 858 meters above sea level of the "Giondito" locality. The historic center is located at an altitude of about 500 meters above sea level.
Despite its limited size, the hydrography is very rich, and the village can boast springs, streams, and significant watercourses. These include the Romna stream, which winds along the valley, and some streams that descend from Mount Farno and Pizzo di Casnigo. Two of these streams are the Gazzo Valley and the Morino Valley stream, which then flow into the underlying Caldara Valley.

The village boundaries
The municipality is located in the main triangular body, with the addition of a small strip of land that extends to the south and stretches to touch the territory of Cene, one of the nearby towns. Although these two municipalities are not given by morphological boundaries, such as rivers or mountains, they are situated along the course of the Val Morino river, which serves as the administrative boundary between the two towns.
On the borders of Cazzano Sant'Andrea, there are Gandino to the south, where the Barzizza fraction is located, and Casnigo to the east. This latter boundary was added in the medieval period to create a buffer zone between the two communities, in order to suppress disputes and rivalries.
The historic center
The historic center of Cazzano Sant'Andrea is located along the road that connects Gandino and Casnigo. In the last decades of the 20th century, the village expanded and absorbed the residential centers and industrial settlements of the nearby towns, creating a unique urban area. However, its familiar and peaceful atmosphere has continued to characterize the village.
Life in Cazzano Sant'Andrea
Cazzano Sant'Andrea is a peaceful village where life flows peacefully, and where everyone knows each other. In the historic center, there are some shops and bars, a couple of restaurants, a pharmacy, and a bank. The locals periodically organize events and parties where everyone is welcome.
Furthermore, the village hosts the elementary school and the middle school, as well as a nursery school managed by the Mountain Community. There are also two bus stops, which connect Cazzano Sant'Andrea with nearby towns and Bergamo.
Finally, the village offers a splendid panoramic view of the surrounding mountains, from the summit of Pizzo di Casnigo and Mount Farno. This makes it a popular destination for hikers and nature lovers.
